so first i’m going to get the shameless self-promo over with, i write a lot of kumirei (not a straight trumpet) and it’s not the best but there’s a lot of it but aNYWAY 

Honey, Where Are the Kids? by trashcocoon on ao3 is one of my favorite kumirei fics, it’s on hiatus rn so keep that in mind but it’s adorable (kumirei as moms! what more could you need) so yeah. 

Deep Oceans of No Light by QuickYoke (also on ao3). ohhhh my god. oh my god. @romanimp’s writing is incredible, please read this fic i’m begging you. 

al fine by spiralmaiden (again, on ao3) is a short, sweet, well-written fic that i find myself rereading quite a bit. it’s really cute. 

every step by eonflute (ao3). high school musical references. what else do i need to say honestly. 

sleepover storm by niigoki (ao3) is super intriguing, great introspections on the characters that aren’t seen in too many fics. read this one, you won’t regret it. 

winter light by UnusuallyNormal (ao3) has some unbelievably beautiful prose, i love it. 

like icarus by Kendarr (ao3). icarus metaphors. gay. read it. 

from the new world by thecivilunrest (ao3) is so goddamn cute i love it so much please read it. 

Call it Off by Sensha_do (ao3). i’m pretty sure this is one of the few fics that have actually made me tear up. beautiful characterization, a heart-tugging story, everything you’d want. read this fic all the way through, please. 

Penguin Underwear by KassidyRayne on ffn is adorable. college au. it’s so cute. 

Brass Duet by Lesprit-de-escalier (ffn) is a lovely collection of kumirei oneshots that i adore.

Four Cups of Coffee by Krinos (ffn) isn’t kumirei, it’s natsuuko, but it’s adorable and i really hope that the author updates it sometime soon. 

Shadows and Parasols by The Neon Catz (ffn) is a cool au, though i do wish the fic was longer sometimes. anyway, it’s a great read and i recommend it. 

Inertia by MeruMusings (ffn) is a beautifully written one-shot that i love. 

you probably weren’t expecting this many fic recs, sorry, i just….really love kumirei…….
