Well…since I have a medical background, let’s just have fun with this question, shall we?
From the events in the anime, we know Izetta got thrown off her rifle in her first battle with Sophie. From the looks of it, she totally hit her lower back pretty hard there, which probably broke her spine and caused a spinal cord injury around the lumbosacral region. The severity of damage and the symptoms vary widely, but this being the 1940s and they aren’t exactly in the condition to give her the proper emergency treatment, her outcome isn’t exactly the best.
Injuries of the spinal cord can be complete and incomplete. Complete injury means a total loss of muscle functions and sensations, while incomplete injury means that some of these functions are still preserved. However, the degree of impairment vary so much from person to person that there is an actual Impairment Scale for it: Grade A (Complete Injury), Grade B (Sensory Incomplete, sensory functions are preserved but motor functions are not), Grade C & D (Motor Incomplete, some sensory and motor functions are preserved), and Grade E (Normal). Although sexual dysfunctions are common after a lumbosacral spinal cord injury, it doesn’t close the possibility that her sensory functions can still be preserved.
Another thing is that the sexual sensations are carried by the pudendal nerve, which come from the sacral nerves. In people suffering from incomplete spinal cord injuries, there is a phenomenon known as sacral sparing, where some degree of sensation is preserved in the sacral dermatomes, because the sacral spinal pathways are not as likely as the other spinal pathways to become compressed after injury. A girl with this injury can still get wet if her clitoris gets rubbed, or have an orgasm, for example.
So the short answer is yes. Many paraplegics can have healthy sexual life with their loved ones, and they aren’t exactly inactive partners, they have above average upper body strength to compensate for their legs, and most can be top if they want to. So Fine can definitely be satisfied as well (lol)
All in all it really depends on the degree of Izetta’s spinal cord damage, but the possibility of that is still much higher than zero.

listen, i never expected canon kumirei. i’m not that naive. what i was expecting was for them to maybe….not…..turn the story 180 degrees?? to maybe not fulfill a ship that has had virtually no screentime??? to, oh i don’t know, do something that made sense within the given narrative??? jesus christ. straight ships can look at each other for two seconds and you’re all over it but two girls spend twenty-four episodes having a crapton of romantic buildup and we’re the shallow and selfish ones??

This rant is not exclusive to 2x11 but it did trigger this. I rarely rant tbh.
However, all these yuribaiting is like forcing us to lower our expectations and making us feel like we owe it to them if they give us something close to homosexual attraction. I’m disappointed because they lead us to believe something good will come out of it but guess what, there isn’t. It’s like saying yes to a marriage proposal just to say no at the altar (okay not the best analogy). Come on, the girls had a nice build-up going on; don’t say they didn’t have it because we saw that you were trying to go there.
It’s a good anime, really. Very powerful animation too. Don’t get me wrong, I’m really grateful for this and I enjoy the story, in general. I didn’t watch it for the gay but I must admit that I did stay for it. I didn’t really think KumiRei will be canon when I first watched it, considering the novel. If only they didn’t lead us on, I wouldn’t be this disappointed.
They better win the Nationals though. Give justice to Kumiko who’s juggling her time practicing really hard while acting as a nosy MC and faking her support to a moping GIRL SPACE SPACE SPACE FRIEND.
We might get a confession scene next episode and poor Reina will get turned down by her Taki-sensei. But our cute wittle trumpeter ain’t one to dwell on that. I think Reina is going to tell Kumiko that she’s (FINALLY) giving up on Taki-sensei and move forward in the competition without trying to impress him but because she wants to play for herself…and for someone important.
